Lots of little things are happening as the spring warms us all up. Eric will be playing a few duo shows with Matt Ouimet on drums. Check the listings for a show near you! Upcoming tours are currently being negotiated as well, so stay tuned.

Eric has also been playing guitar for Meredith Luce. You can catch them at various festivals and at Ottawa's Bluesfest. Further touring to be announced.

The site is finally back up and we are ready to receive emails again. After weeks of complications with the site, it is up and functioning again.

Where to start? After a smashing performance, The Withering Pines have officially released their record "Into Corners". The show was graciously hosted by the fine folks at the Elmdale Tavern (embed link) and was wonderfully attended. Our thanks go out especially to those who made the trip but could not get in due to overcapacity.

The records are officially available as part of the Bluesfest Collective Series and are now available in stores. See our links/merch page for locations. Online download purchases soon to come.

Both full band and scaled down shows are in the works. See our appearances page for details. New album launch photos to be posted in the coming days as well.

If anyone has tried contacting us through info@thewitheringpines.com and haven't had a response, please send it again and we will be sure to get your emails at this point.

Hope to see you all soon, but not on the Rideau Canal.

TWP.

January 15th, 2009

The new year is upon us and already my resolution of getting more things done is being exercised already in early January. I am anxiously awaiting my discs to come back from duplication. Its funny... someone asked me if I still buy independant music... to that I replied, "Why yes, as a matter of fact I bought 1000 copies of indy music just last week."

Anyhow, I am pleased to announce my official CD release party will be at the Elmdale Tavern on Wellington St. It was my late uncles tavern of choice for the last twenty years or so, I thought releasing the record there would have a lot of good energy behind it.

So here are the details,

Elmdale Tavern
Saturday Feb 21st.
9pm (Get there early... this one will sell out!)
Special Guests: The Woodrunners and JJ Ipsen
ten bucks at the door

Hope to see you there...

The record is mastered. It sounds fantastic, I am really happy with how things went. It was a long process, but so necessary in achieving the final product. There are a few songs available for listening here, and on myspace. I shall give you lots of notice for the release party when it happens early in the new year.

Thank you all for your patience... it has been a while since we started this...

Hello all,

Winter is soon approaching and we are looking to have our CDs cozily wrapped in cellophane before the frost hits. Expect to hear of CD releasing in the not too distant future.

Should have studio recordings within a week or two.

It looks as though this record will be finished mixing within 2 weeks. The Withering Pines are going to lay low until we get a new guitarist to replace JJ since his departure to Toronto. I have a feeling we will have one or two underground shows, then the CD release. Maybe even a listening party. If anyone is interested, feel free to contact us with your interest or any ideas you may have for it. Oh and I will be playing guitar for Meredith Luce for her upcoming shows and CD release. She's pretty swell herself.

Don't let the autumn get you down.

As we progress, the recordings are gaining cohesiveness and my hands hurt from all the handclapping. Dave is going away for a week and we will be picking up the mixing in August. I get to house sit his abnormally large cats and make sure the studio doesn't burn down while he is away... now I will be able to practice drumming without worry of giving my neighbors an aneurism. So that means you kiddies will be able to hear something completed in roughly a months time. Wear your sunscreen.

Only hand claps and harmonies to go...

The record is teetering on the brink of being tracked... Now time to mix it. My biggest issue is when to say stop. I keep telling Dave, "One more organ track", or "Maybe we need to double the Wurly", or "What's that weird looking keyboard in the back? Can we use that?"

Once that is all over with, I am going to try and get a "teaser" ready for my upcoming shows. Realistically, I am thinking Bluesfest is when the unmastered, limited edition copies will begin to be sold.

Oh yeah if you want to know more about Bluesfest, Click here Ottawa Bluesfest.

Okay bye.

FINDING SOUNDS...

Things are well in little bullorn as we are wrapping up the bulk of the tracking for the record.  We are enjoying dave's tape spinning abilities and beer has never tasted better.  I am guessing that we will be making the record available in early july.

Lots of shows coming along as well.

Well, i'm off to close the shop. (yes i am making the most of my not so busy afternoon at work.)

Happy weekend.

Day 0...

...A Band is Born...

Welcome to Eric Vieweg's new project, The Withering Pines.

At the moment, the album is in its conceptual phase, and soon to be recorded and released. There will be lots to look at and listen to when the album is released. Roam around the site all you wish.
